This is Me
Hola! My name is Keren Encarnación. I’m a Puerto Rican surface designer. I have a fibers BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. I’m inspired by memories with family and friends, tropical environments, music, and surfing. I love creating colorful designs that tell stories from history, my life, and the tropical paradise that I created in my head when I was young.
Welcome to my creative world!
Growing up on an island has influenced my work as an artist. As a child, I created this world/ idea in my head that islanders dressed very colorful and tropical. They smelled like coconuts, mangos, or pineapple (the person would pick their forever smell) and spent a lot of time at the beach. Exploring in-depth my culture and other island cultures really excites me. I’m a very curious person, and I love to learn, so I get the closest I can to the origin of things, where they come from, how they are made, what people around think about them, and how it makes them feel. Through an artistic lens, I dive deeper into island cultures, the history, values, and environments with a combination of bright colors and textures, creating a visual narrative that evokes joy and excitement.
